It’s nothing special. I happen to be one of those people who get things rolled out to their account early. Just like Google Wave, Google Buzz, I was able to join in on Google Plus early (and without any invitation, of course). My first reaction was, ‘this is it!’

Google+ is an amazing platform. Although there are things that can be argued about, overall Google+ is a hit from my end. It turned out to be more interesting to me when I figured out that I can actually use it for blogging purposes as well. Not only that, I thought for a few minutes and came up with a few reasons why blogging on Google+ may actually be better than blogging on an actual ‘blogging‘ platform.

Today, I’d like to share those reasons with you and know what your opinion is on them.

While this is true, I am of the opinion that more important than this is to provide your readers with the best possible user experience and having your website load quickly not only achieves that but also avoids from “casual” visitor to quickly abandon your site if it takes too much time to load. When this happens, you loose potential readers (or customers) and that is something you don’t want to happen.

Optimize Page Speed

To optimize your page speed, you first will want to know how long your pages load and detect if any, which components are taking too much to fully render. Having the right SEO tools for this is essential as the results will provide you with some insights of what to tackle. One the most obvious tools available for performing this test is Google’s Webmaster Tools. Although Google Webmaster Tools (under the Labs Tab) does this, it provides you with “average” data and basically directs you to use another tool, which is not the object of this post today.

Clicking on the iPageRank button gives you your websites keywords and the frequency of which they appear, I tested this on my poetry blog and saw what my keywords looked like. There is also a separate column called “performing” on the right which I assume shows which keywords have lead to clicks on your blog from Google Search engines but I don’t know for sure.

Write for your readers, right? Don’t do this, don’t do that, and everything else in between. Most of these suggestions are correct and you should really avoid cluttering your pages and content with too much ads, excessive keywords and really write for humans and not for search engines. If you can do both, all the better, but first write for your readers.

How to use your Google’s Analytics data to improve your revenue potential?

As time goes by, a post will eventually get old, and most likely, your loyal readers may have already seen them and maybe even commented on them. Your loyal readers are the ones that are following you and waiting for that next killer post:) If your content is full of hurdles (ads), especially those that are intrusive, it is possible that you might just tick your loyal readers away, and once that happens, it could be the beginning of an ending. But then you may ask, where the h*ll should I put my affiliate links and all those goodies to make money? Well, here is where Google Analytics comes in.

This means if you were to place a top 5 listing on Google Search you could lose this ranking if your blog has a poor page load performance.

The fact is, even as the internet continues to get more feature rich, bandwidth and broadband can’t keep up fast enough. Mobile devices still average around 1.5 Mbps, and there are still millions of people using dial up. With websites containing often 1mb or more of images this can be up to a minute long pageload for a single website if you are still using dial up modems.

My own blog suffers from pageload performance issues and this is due to many of the social submission plugins, and various external js calls made from my blog. I am in the process of tuning my blog to be more efficient and in doing so I found these three wordpress plug-ins that greatly improve some of your blogs footprint.

The new Google Dashboard allows you to view and control data associated with the different products you use with your Google Account. It literally shows you everything, from information about your web usage, email usage, chats stored, youtube usage and more, when you are logged into Google services such as Gmail, Google Docs, contacts, alerts, the whole shebang. I have to admit that this can be somewhat scary, but the fact that Google now provides you with more control over your private (?) data is something that they have to be commended with.
