We all heard about search engines before and just about the different types of vertical engines around. What is probably new to you is a deal search engine that aggregates the best deals from various well known sources such as Groupon, Wahanda and more. What I find interesting about DealZippy is that you can basically search for any “deals” you want in one place, rather than having to go to different sites.

In a nutshell, DealZippy.co.uk is, as they state:

Deal Zippy offer all the best group buying deals in one place! Think of us as the deal of the day search engine, showing you only the best daily deals. Daily deals also known as group buying discounts are a great way to save and get money off the retail price on many services and goods available to buy online.

Some interesting features about DealZippy is that the user can receive “daily deal alerts” based on the preferences setup initially. Think of it like your own personal “procurement manager”. You tell the interface what your preferences are, and you will get via email deals that are relevant to your selected topics.

Obviously, you can also browse a comprehensive selection of daily deals that ranges from awesome discounts, restaurant deals, travel, health, and more. One advantage of using services such as this one is that you can buy many things that you might be looking for, for a fraction of a regular price in local stores. they do really have “great discounts” over there.

What else? Certainly, there are some questions that you might be thinking of right now, so here’s a short extract from DealZippy’s FAQ section.

1. What is Deal Zippy and how does it work?
Deal Zippy is a daily deal search engine bringing together the best daily deals from the top group buying sites in the UK like Groupon, 118 118 KGB Deals, Wahanda and more. We let you choose the deals you want to see based on your location and preferences.

2. Do Deal Zippy sell deals?
No. Deal Zippy is an aggregator of daily deals, we do however have the option for users to receive bespoke deal alerts based on deal preferences and location.

3. I want the deal, how do I buy it?
If you see a deal you like, simply click the “View Deal” button.

4. Where is the deal I purchased?
As we don’t sell deals you will have to get in touch with the group buying websites from whom you purchased the deal if you have a question regarding your purchase. Here are some helpful links: www.groupon.co.uk www.kgbdeal.co.uk www.wahanda.co.uk www.kelkooselect.co.uk

5. How do I set my preferences?
To set preferences you must have a Deal Zippy account. Once you have signed up simply click My Account” in the top right corner of your screen and choose your preferences.

Simple enough, right? Next time you are looking to buy something, save yourself some money by “searching” for the best daily deal offers first. Just remember that for now, DealZippy offers deals basically in major cities in the UK.

But simply doing a Google search and copying and pasting an image that properly correlates with your post can get you in a heap of trouble. You have to abide by copyright laws.

As a local music reviewer for my city, I turn to online resources when seeking new bands to write about. When MySpace launched their revamped site late last year, they altered their advanced search and omitted the special feature that allowed a searcher to navigate at a local level. Enraged with frustration, I emailed and asked what had happened to my beloved zip code search field, to which they simply replied “We’re sorry. That function no longer exists.”

This painful realization has given me no choice but to experiment with a new medium: Reverb Nation. The website has been around for a while, but it wasn’t until I needed to find new local bands that I decided to complete my profile and become an active member of their community. Since then, I’ve come to realize that the niche website actually provides more benefits to both the musician and the reporter than MySpace. Read on to see why.

Apart from expounding all its good points they will generally tell you, somewhere in the post, that it must be good because all the big boys use it. This may be true but I’m sure that one of the reasons that a lot of people use it and for promoting the crap out of it is because they’re also an affiliate.

Which is fine as I understand how one tends to get emotional about promoting something that they love to use, heck I do the same when telling people about the FlexSqueeze theme. I do take exception though when while promoting it they have a go at MailChimp. Yeah, I know I did the same thing when I compared FlexSqueeze to Thesis but I never said Thesis was bad in that post, just that it wasn’t as good!

Social networking has also become ingrained in every day life. From suburban moms to small business owners, blogs are being created to express interest and promote products. As blogs and social media are now a significant category in online behavior, organizations, specifically non-profits, can take advantage of the access these sites can give for promotion, events, and awareness to the public.

Here are a few ways that blogs and social media can serve as a vital part of a non-profit.

Update and Document

Social networking sites allows for constant update capabilities, and with the applications that can used on smart phones, non-profit coordinators can update from events and conferences. Social media and blogs also serve as free media coverage. Since both also allow comments, photo posts and video posts, visitors get an interactive experience.

Example: NPR has a Facebook and Twitter account for audiences to watch videos and read articles, which they can comment on as well.

Create Connection

Comments posted on your blog can serve as a way to make new connections, and also to encourage discussion about the organization and its work. Discussion through comments can lead to collaboration and connection to possible donors. Social networking sites that allow “friends” means your organization can stay connected to members, volunteers, interns, and donors. Link from their pages will create virtual breadcrumbs to your organization’s web site and blog. This will encourage traffic and the organization’s online presence.

Example: Linda Pascotto, president of the Prem Rewat Foundation, created a personal page on Facebook that connects to her non-profits page and their affiliate organizations.

Promotion and Resources

Blogs have RSS feeds that send updates to your blogs followers, which is an easy way to spread news about future events. Social networking sites, such as Facebook, have an events page creator to that will appear on the newsfeed of friends and your friend’s friend. This helps to create awareness among those who have no direct connection to the organization. Both social media and blogs have profiles where the organization can post links to their main web site, resource material, and affiliates.

Example: The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation has a blog called Finding Hope on WordPress that has an events tab, RSS feed and a section where members post their personal stories.

While blogs and social networking require attention and constant content, they are easy to run and a great resource for spreading an organization’s objective.
Everything has to change. And so, the same goes with the Microsoft. I am a big fan of Microsoft Products especially Microsoft Office. I have been using it from long and no complaints as such till date. I have worked on all versions of Microsoft Office..from Office 2000 to the most recent 2007. Frankly speaking…no other office application can be compared to the MS Office. Though there are still many other free applications around, yet the power and flexibility which MS Office offers is unbeatable.

Now, Microsoft Office is out with yet another major innovation to its most popular desktop office application. Its most awaited office application – MS Office 2010 has hit the market.

Naturally, once I got him on his own I wanted to grill him, to learn as much as I could about what Google sees as important as far as PR updates are concerned.

When my family moved to Pollock Pines, California back in the early 1980’s, I noticed that people displayed “Stomp Out Flatlanders” bumper stickers on their trucks. This, of course, begged the question: Exactly what is a Flatlander? Is a Flatlander a sub-species of homo sapiens with distinct, categorizable quirks and patterns? Or is a Flatlander somebody unfamiliar that you can’t get a beat on, who therefore poses an unspoken threat?

I believe the definition is closer to the former. Flatlanderhood isn’t comprised of any set number of qualities, but if one should possess certain qualities, one is most definitely a Flatlander.
