Little Clauses Grow Up Too Fast

This started as an attempt to revive “Wordy Wednesday,” but Wednesday turned into Thursday and it seemed silly to title the post “Wordy Wednesday” on a Thursday. As I was writing it, a plethora of independent clauses clambered around in my head and spilled out onto my keyboard, clamoring for attention, and this morphed into a discussion of run-on sentences, the evils of comma splices, the merits of the semicolon, and more. Cast aside visions of your Fifth Grade English teacher and her ruler; I hope you have fun with this and find it useful!

Fish Spa at the Manila Ocean Park

Our day at the Manila Ocean Park was well spent. Liz and I enjoyed looking at the colorful fishies and reading about their characteristics and such – and we even found Nemo! When we got to the end, we had a nice view of the Manila Bay and an option to either take a glass bottom boat ride or have our feet eaten by fish… at a Fish Spa!

Doctor Fish ate our feet

It costs only P100 (~$2.00) and you get a free towel. Lol! But not advisable if you’re squeamish about putting your feet in a shallow pool with fishes… and a whole lot of other people’s feet. Hehe hehe…

Does Motherhood Make Us Bossy?

I’ve never been bossy.

I can distinctly remember several times when, as a girl, my Mom took one playmate or another aside and lectured her about bossing me around. Nobody’s Mom ever took me aside and gave me the bossy girl lecture. In retrospect my Mom has mentioned quite a few times that she wishes she’d let me handle my own problems more often as a child, but that’s another issue. (There are many, many issues.)

I’ve always been a sidekick, an appendage.

(FB) – Pre-eminent blogger Jan Geronimo of WritingToExhale.com has been reported missing by worried friends and colleagues. He was last seen on a tough row to hoe, carrying on with some hot chicks in Farmville.

“Seriously, I thought he’d just taken up smoking crack,” said one friend, who preferred to remain anonymous. “Now I’m really worried about him, y’know?”

One tipster reported that Mr. Geronimo was seen sporting denim overalls, and throwing something unidentifiable to a pen full of happy pigs. “I don’t know what that man’s doing with a pig pen. He should be wielding a fountain pen, for crying out loud! What could he be thinking?” At last report, the pigs were happily munching pages from Orwell’s Animal Farm, and could be seen wearing glasses and walking on their hind legs.
