One of the reasons I am so passionate about this is because in the real world, unless around family and friends, I tend to keep to myself.

As a blogger I write basically so that I can express myself but also to entertain and sometimes to instruct anyone who happens to land on one of my posts. But all that comes to nothing unless those posts elicit a response such as comment. I thrive on my comments, almost as much as being able to comment on those blogs that I visit. Yet even though I love to comment there are certain things that bloggers do that irk me so much I just leave in disgust.

If you’re a writer, you probably have a blog. If you are a writer without one, or you want to be a writer, you should probably have a blog. Like few things, there’s absolutely no reason not to have one. It’s a painless, free way to improve your writing, to find an audience without fighting for it, and to even find out what is and isn’t working for you as a writer or for that audience.

If nothing else, blogging is sudden access to a platform through which you can do a few things that you simply can’t do anywhere else. A blog allows you to write however often you want to and in however much detail you feel compelled to write in; it sidesteps the issues of finding an outlet for your writing, as well as the tedious requirements that would otherwise require you to keep things either extremely brief or go in-depth about something. That decision is yours to make on a blog, and you have as much freedom as you’d like to take risks, especially as you’re simply getting started.

It was probably one of the first plugins I ever added to this blog, when I really had no idea what a plugin was, and it’s served my purposes well.

The thing is, I’m betting that my reasons for using CommentLuv are somewhat different than yours. Not all of you, of course, but an overwhelming majority of you. If you’re not using this plugin to increase your visibility in the community then you don’t know anything about networking. If you are, you might still be going after low hanging fruit rather than getting into the meat of it all (now there’s an oxymoron, talking about the meat of fruit). Let’s find out, shall we.

That being the case you will most likely love this next plugin, WP Threaded Comments. I was using this plugin before WP came up with it’s own version in the latest updates and I continue to use it because I like the way it’s structured when replying to comments.

You may be wondering what this has to do with saving time when commenting, and the answer to that is it has other useful features which I will get to shortly. As most of you know every time you reply to a comment your whole page loads which not only takes time it also uses a lot of bandwidth not to mention uses a fair bit of CPU on your server. One of the unique features of this plugin is that no longer happens, once you’ve replied to a comment it appears withing seconds without loading the whole page. If you get a lot of comments you can imagine how much time it will save you.

Bloggers put on these two plugins to encourage commenting and reward their loyal readers and followers, but they are heavily abused by marketers and spam bots which are trying to find and scavenge a quick backlink. They are also abused by individuals hired to scavenge backlinks for companies or people who just do it for themselves.

This is where DoFollow restriction plugins come into play.

One such plugin is the NoFollow Free This plug-in allows you to provide DoFollow links to your loyal blog commenters but prevents you from providing that same benefit to spammers and everyone who comments (like the DoFollow WordPress plugin does).

When I first began working online I saw that while there were thousands of people looking for ways to earn money online, only a percentage of them became successful, and a handful became extremely successful.

While you still hear the occasional story of the cyber-rapid progression from rags to riches, these stories become fewer and further between. There is more competition online than there was a few years ago (although, once you really know what you’re doing, there isn’t really much real competition). And it isn’t possible to short-cut or cheat oneself into momentary wealth, as it once was.

I decided that the prime difference between the successful and the not-so-successful must be, primarily, persistence.
