Configuring CommentLuv Display Options

Best Little Plug-in EVER…

I still remember the first time I encountered the CommentLuv plug-in and thought, “I want that!” Then I discovered it didn’t work on Blogspot blogs. I was still stinging from my first experience with WordPress, and enjoying the ease of maintenance on my Blogspot blog. So I tracked down its author, Andy Bailey, and bugged him mercilessly until he got CommentLuv working on Blogspot as well as on WordPress. I’m kind of proud of the fact that I was the first person to successfully implement CommentLuv on a Blogspot blog.

The plug-in has come a long way since then, and I’ve come back to WordPress as my primary blogging platform. Recently, Dennis Edell wrote, “BTW Holly, nice little hack to the CommentLuv code, it works a lot better for those that don’t actually pick the ‘last post’; a little tutorial perhaps? “– a suggestion that left me scratching my head for a while, until he pointed out that I don’t use the default verbiage for the lead-in to commenters’ links. I wish I could keep up the façade and pretend to be a clever hacker, here, but the truth is, I just like to poke around and see what I can break in the configuration panel of just about every plug-in I install.
